Gemstones and diamonds are particularly delicate and require caution when using them. Impacts, hits, and shocks damage any gemstone, including diamonds. It is best to avoid impact with hard surfaces and contact with abrasive substances. It is important to remember that gemstones can scratch other gemstones and even diamonds can scratch each other. Diamonds can be cleaned with a mild solution of six parts water to one part ammonia, applied with a soft brush.
